What to expect in expressive arts classes and sessions ~

Expressive arts is a potent practice that serves to bring you in touch with the sensations of the body. It is an invitation into deep exploration of the self and personal expression. It is to feel and experience the emotions that live within the body - giving opportunity for insight.

Through this practice we can reclaim our voice and become clear on our authenticity. We can learn deeper acceptance of our present state through being vulnerable in sharing and expressing with others. We can begin to practice dancing with our life experience and flowing with it.

The layout of the class is opening meditation, free form movement, drawing and/or writing, and sharing in safe space. The practice is the opportunity to work with the material of your life, the stories within and begin to find deeper integration, insight, and balance. We get out of the mind and into the body for a deeper and more holistic experience of self. We can be transformed through this practice and through being felt, seen, and responded to by others. It also serves to get us in touch with our creativity and the imaginal realm of experience, where we can have profound insights and inspirations.

In these classes and sessions I draw on my training by Rosario Sammartino, PhD, through Meridian University, as well as, my personal practice for the past 7 years. I have continued to work with Rosario since first being trained by her in 2018/2019. Through these years of training and personal experience I have felt the power of these practices and there ability to help us integrate, heal, and revive that which is most vital to us within.

For these classes and sessions you’ll want to have a large drawing pad, oil pastels, and a journal. Other art supplies welcome if you feel compelled to bring them. When we create in these classes it is not to create a masterpiece necessarily but to allow what authentically pours from our deep inner experience out into movement, onto our page, in sound, and/or writing.

If you have any questions or would like to join a class or session please reach out through the contact page.

Blessings,

Morgan
